Committee Questions, Comments, Concerns

  • Film will be placed on the outside of the window.
  • Graphics will be simple but provide some opacity for privacy for kids.
  • What will the surface of the playground be?
  • What material will the fencing be?
  • Should there be more thought to the location of the play area?
  • Questions about the long-term use of the park area considering the public art and bio-swale components.
  • Fruit trees could potentially be removed for the location of the playground
  • Should the film be placed window frame to window frame?
  • The film should line-up across the windows

Motion to approve conceptually the daycare use, signage, and play area.

Camille Maxwell is available to comment on her concerns for the placement of the play area, access to it from the building, and pick-up and drop-off because of the amount of traffic in the area.

Updated project details were presented by Julie Stegerwald.  The use was conditionally approved by the Planning Commission.

Committee Questions, Comments, Concerns

  • Is there any concern that passersby might confuse the "12345" as the address?  Address is above the door as 317.
  • Can you add a decal/film cover to the storefront windows leading to the center doors as well as to the left of the main door?
  • Can you add a "kids at play" or some similar treatment because the children are moving through the parking lot to get to the play area.
  • Will you be re-using the sign bracket above the main door?
  • Are these options for the fencing being shown?

CM Polensek is available for comment.  He stated that there may be an easement on the south side of the property that they may have to take into consideration when installing the fence. And who maintains the pocket park/bio-swale? Possibly the new owner or NES.

Motion to approve with the condition to add decals/film to the additional storefront windows, making the path thru the parking lot to the play area, the horizontal bars of the fence be a neutral color to help the vertical colors stand out, and re-arrange the letters and numbers on the decals.
